 WE HOST VISION BOARD WORKSHOPS

We Host Vision Workshops

You can use: Boards, Boxes, Journal Pages, Index Cards, etc,

The Process is the Same!

While it’s great to be able to make a profit, sometimes you just want to hang out with your ‘girls’ or ‘guys’ and talk about dreams & goals.

Here’s how you can get it done:

 We Provide EVERYTHING

This means having your friends provide some of the materials (like their choice of magazines). We provide the scissors, glue, writing material, and a few magazines from home.

 MAKE IT A Potluck

You can have the event be potluck style where everyone brings both a dish and a bottle (of wine, alcohol, or whatever) to share.

Side note: I always recommend asking potluck attendees to bring both a dish and a drink. I once hosted an event where I asked people to bring a bottle or a dish, and we ended up with 12 bottles of wine and no food! It was still a fun time, but it would have been even better with some food to eat.

You might want to specify that the dishes should be things that aren’t too messy. You don’t want to get greasy fingers or dip on your Vision Board! I usually schedule a time for MESSY FOODS & CLEANUP.

Here’s How Lifestyle by Design Does Vision Boards Workshops . . .

A vision board workshop is a great way for small business owners to get inspired and clear on their goals. It’s also a fun and creative way to visualize your dreams for your business or home life.

Here’s how it works:

  1. We provide a bunch of magazines, newspapers, and other materials that you can use to cut out images and words that represent your goals.
  2. We’ll create a vision board on a piece of poster board, journal page, index card, or shadow box. (The choice is yours)
  3. Hang your vision board in a place where you’ll see it often.
  4. During the workshop, you will have Me + a facilitator guiding you through the first hour.

Every time you look at your vision board, take a few minutes to daydream about your goals and how you’re going to achieve them.

Vision boards are a great way to stay motivated and focused on your dreams.

Before you begin:

We will set INTENTION & CLARITY

  1. Get clear about PURPOSE
  2. Get clear about WHAT’s IN THE WAY OF CREATING THESE THINGS

We Bring the SUPPLIES:

  • Large cardstock poster board (one for each attendee)
  • Big Stack of magazines (supply of colorful, beautiful, inspirational magazines)
  • Glue (rubber cement, glue sticks, Aleene’s tacky glue, Elmer spray adhesive)
  • Music (soft-lyric free, CDs, youtube)

PROCESS

  1. Flip ~ rip out anything that delights you – or calls to you! just keep flipping to get the images. Make your board vibrant: cut out things that inspire a positive or curious response from you. Don’t analyze – grab it! NO GLUING YET! Pull out words, and headlines that strike you fancy. Make a pile of your images, phrases, words, headlines, etc . . .
  2. Sort ~ This is about your intuition. Notice if any images don’t feel right – trust yourself to eliminate them. Your intuition is powerful! You will quickly toss out the “shoulds” that ended up in your pile. Sometimes you learn more about yourself from the images you toss out than the ones you keep.
  3. Arrange ~ Lay out the images on your poster board. As you lay out the images, sense how the board should be laid out. There’s no right or wrong way!
  4. Paste ~ After you’ve arranged all the items, paste everything onto the board. Take your time doing this!
  5. Decorate ~ Add some decorative touches – stickers, drawings, paintings, gel pens, markers, etc. This is where you can get very creative!
  6. Add You! (optional) ~ Paste a picture right in the middle of your creation – I personally add special stickers to represent ME! At the time of creating the board.
  7. Display ~ I always recommend putting your vision board in a prominent place where you’ll see it regularly.
  8. Act ~ Taking action in your daily life is the key to this process.

WE OFFER 3 TYPES OF BOARD WORKSHOPS

  • “I know what I want” vision board
  • “Opening & Allowing” (not sure what you want) vision board
  • Themes (business, career, home life, relationship, personal growth, wellness, etc)

DIY ~ Hosting Your Own Workshop

Hosting your Vision Workshop at someone’s home is a great way to save money on space rental. Make sure the space is big enough to comfortably accommodate everyone (groups of 10-15 are ideal). A waiting list is also a good idea to ensure that everyone who wants to attend can get a spot.

Vision board parties are a blast, whether you host them for your close friends or a big group. Just get people in a room together, let them talk about their goals, and provide plenty of wine. It’s a guaranteed good time!

I recommend setting aside two to three hours for your workshop so you have plenty of time for introductions, creativity, and a wrap-up with your coaching offer. You’ll need:

  • Large blank pieces of card stock (one for each attendee with a few spares)
  • Colorful felt-tip pens
  • Several pairs of scissors (one pair per two people)
  • Several glue sticks (one per three people)
  • A supply of colorful, beautiful, inspirational magazines with home and garden magazines are all good. You can also ask attendees to bring some magazines of their own.)

It can be helpful to show examples of vision boards if you have any. A vision board can be used to help set goals for the year ahead. It could also focus on areas like career, business, home life, spiritual growth, well-being, or relationships.

Before you start, make sure everyone has a piece of card stock and ask them to write today’s date on there. You may want to offer a short meditation with lyric-free music to help people relax and settle into themselves. Consider using some of the following statements to encourage attendees:

  • “With a vision board, how you feel is more important than what you think.”
  • “While you look for pictures, really feel into your goals. Allow your mind to run free.”
  • “Make your board vibrant: Cut out things that inspire a positive or curious response from you. Don’t analyze—grab it.”
  • “Include pictures, symbols, words, and quotes—anything that resonates with you or appeals to or speaks to you. It doesn’t need to make sense or be obvious why you like it.”
  • “It can also be powerful to actively look for the unfamiliar, thinking ‘outside your box.’”
  • “Remember, this is not about creating an artistic masterpiece but creating something personal and inspiring.”

Some attendees will need help figuring out where to start. Let them know this is a good thing! They can simply start flicking through the magazines and look for words, phrases, and/or pictures that inspire or grab them.

Use some of the following statements to structure the wrap-up of the workshop:

  • “So you’ve finished. Now what? Well, put your vision board somewhere you will see it every day to remind, inspire, and focus you.”
  • “However, sometimes when we see something regularly, after a while we stop seeing it. So, I recommend that once in a while, you sit down and look deeply at it. Review it; allow yourself to feel it and get excited by it.”
  • “Just before you sleep is a great time to do this as it allows your mind to ponder and absorb it overnight!”

Finally, remember to sell you! Have some flyers, brochures, or branded coaching or business events/exercises at the back of the room for people to take home, and promote your newsletter with a sign-up sheet too.

The end of this inspiring workshop is when you promote your special offers, upcoming workshops, or programs. Offer a free consultation to set their goals for the year ahead and get their year off to a flying start. Or offer to help them turn their vision board into reality.
