Design Your Life

Design Your Life

The energy we bring to our lives can be intentionally cultivated, much like we thoughtfully design the interiors of our homes.

The excitement of decorating a new house or empty room sparks our imagination and opens up a world of possibilities. Similarly, life presents us with opportunities for self-expression in different contexts. We can shape our experiences by asking ourselves how we want to navigate our days and what kind of flow we desire in our lives.

Some individuals possess an innate ability to influence the atmosphere of the spaces they occupy, effortlessly enhancing their surroundings with their presence. These individuals have a unique talent for infusing life with a touch of artistry. This can manifest in various ways, such as their distinctive personal style, their captivating conversational abilities, or even their thoughtful gestures, like consistently bringing a bouquet of wildflowers as a gift when visiting.

Our presence, intentional or not, makes a statement. The energy we emit shifts depending on our attire. A simple, elegant ensemble evokes a different atmosphere than a vibrant, cheerful outfit with a floppy hat. Neither is superior; both are valid expressions.

The ambiance we cultivate is ultimately a matter of personal preference. Our attire is merely one element to consider. The way we communicate and interact with others has a far more profound impact on the energy we project. Our words, and the tone in which we deliver them, compose the music we introduce into our shared world. Some may fill the space with vibrant melodies, while others offer soothing harmonies. Both have their place; we are all called to contribute our unique voices.

Our homes are a reflection of our conscious choices, and alike we can intentionally infuse our unique energy into our lives. Ideally, this allows us to express our inner selves, adding adornments to the world that enhance its meaning, and beauty to create a welcoming atmosphere akin to a cherished home.

5 Ways To Interweave Spiritual Design

5 Ways To Interweave Spiritual Design For A Healthy Home

Here are five ways to interweave spiritual design into a home for a healthier and more harmonious environment:

  1. Mindful Use of Natural Elements: Incorporate natural elements such as wood, stone, water features, and plants to create a calming atmosphere. Earthy materials connect the space to nature and promote a sense of grounding and tranquility.
  2. Sacred Space Creation: Dedicate an area for meditation, prayer, or reflection. This could be a small altar, a quiet reading nook, or a serene corner with soft lighting, candles, and spiritual objects that hold personal significance.
  3. Intentional Color Choices: Use colors that promote emotional well-being and balance. Soft, neutral tones like beige, soft greens and blues evoke peace, while warm tones like deep reds and oranges add energy and vitality. Choose colors that resonate with your spiritual goals.
  4. Cleansing Rituals with Smudging or Crystals: Incorporate rituals to cleanse and refresh your home’s energy. Using sage or Palo Santo for smudging, placing healing crystals like amethyst or rose quartz around the house, and keeping salt lamps can help balance energy and create a positive vibe.
  5. Incorporating Symbolism and Art: Decorate your home with symbols that resonate with your spiritual beliefs, whether religious, metaphysical, or cultural. Art that reflects inner peace, growth, and love can enhance the spiritual atmosphere and inspire mindfulness in daily life.

These elements, combined, create a holistic and spiritually enriching environment for any space within your home or office.

Mini-Clutter Clinic . . . Closets

Mini Clinic: Organizing an Entry Hall Closet

Duration: 30-45 minutes

USE A TIMER TO AVOID DISTRACTIONS – NOT THE ONE ON YOUR PHONE (optional)

1. Set a Goal for Your Closet (5 minutes)

Purpose: Determine how you want your closet to function as a place for coats, shoes, bags, or cleaning supplies.

Activity: Write down your main goal for the space and the key items that belong there.

2. Clear Out the Closet (10 minutes)

Purpose: Create a clean slate by emptying everything from the closet.

Activity: Remove all items, then clean the space. Dust, sweep, and wipe down the shelves and floor.

3. Sort and Categorize (10-15 minutes)

Purpose: Group similar items together to understand what you have and what’s worth keeping.

Activity: Use categories like Coats/Jackets, Shoes/Boots, Bags, Cleaning Supplies, etc.

Tip: Immediately create piles for Keep, Donate, and Trash to declutter.

4. Choose Organizational Tools (5-10 minutes)

Purpose: Maximize the closet’s functionality using storage solutions.

Suggested Tools:

Hooks or wall-mounted racks for bags, hats, or scarves.

Shoe racks or bins for footwear.

Shelving or baskets for seasonal items like gloves and umbrellas.

Over-the-door organizers for smaller accessories.

5. Return Items to the Closet (5-10 minutes)

Purpose: Arrange everything back into the closet in an organized way. EVERYTHING NEEDS A HOME!

Tip: Place most-used items at eye level and seasonal or rarely used items higher up.

Activity: Strategically put each item back, ensuring that the closet serves its purpose effectively.

6. Final Touches and Maintenance Plan (5 minutes)

Purpose: Make sure the space is easy to maintain in the long term.

>>POST A LIST ON THE INSIDE DOOR OF WHAT BELONGS IN THE SPACE- For younger kids, use pictures<<

Tip: Create a simple maintenance plan, like a quick 5-minute monthly declutter.

Activity: Label shelves or bins if necessary to keep the system intact.

Key Takeaway:

The entry hall closet is often a catch-all space, but it can transform into a functional, stress-free area with proper organization. Consistent decluttering and intentional storage will keep it organized.

Happy Organizing!

Bring In The Good Vibes!

Make Your Home Serene

Include all five senses while making a home, along with creating a safe haven for your evolving body and soul.

Your home is like your own private slice of heaven. With a little TLC, you can turn it into a chill spot where you can relax and be yourself. It can be your sanctuary, a place where you feel safe and comfortable. And when you have guests over, they’ll feel all cozy and welcome too.

A tidy and cozy home can make you, your family, and your pals feel chill and give you a break from the crazy world outside. Making a place like that isn’t hard. Even if you’ve got little kids or a zoo’s worth of pets, you can still have a peaceful home.

Listen! In no time, you can make a few easy changes that’ll transform your humble abode into a cozy and secure sanctuary. It’ll be a place you’ll be thrilled to show off to your pals and family.

Wanna make your home a relaxing oasis? Start with the vibes! Soft lighting and calming colors like blue, purple, and green can make a space feel cozy and inviting. And don’t forget the scents! Pleasant and calming aromas like lavender and vanilla can totally change your mood.

Calming sounds like the water flowing in a fountain or soft chimes can make a space feel better and more peaceful. Getting rid of clutter and using open space wisely can also help you feel better emotionally and get rid of negative thoughts.

The stuff in your house, like furniture and the house itself, can hold onto the vibes of the people who lived there before you. If you want to freshen things up, try picturing a bright white light all around your place. You can also sweep away bad energy using a sage bundle. . . my personal favorite!

What you do with your home can be as unique as you are. You can change the layout, add some new furniture, decorate, or even try feng shui or rituals. But the most important thing is to make your home a place that feels good to be in.

Make your home a cozy place, and it’ll feel like a warm hug every time you step inside!

Peace ♥ Harmony, Cheryl

Unleash The Joy: A Dance of Serenity Through Organized Living

In the chaotic dance of our daily lives, finding solace amidst the storm is a pursuit we all yearn for. Imagine a world where clutter and chaos give way to a serene symphony of order and purpose. Today, we embark on a journey to explore the profound emotional impact of embracing organization in our lives.

Section 1: The Liberating Bliss of Decluttering

Picture this: the weight of unnecessary possessions lifted from your shoulders, leaving room for clarity and tranquility. As you bid farewell to the clutter, a sense of liberation washes over you, akin to the feeling of a cool breeze on a hot summer day. Decluttering is not just about physical space; it’s a profound emotional cleanse.

Section 2: The Dance of Productivity and Peace

In the organized realm, every item has its designated HOME, and every task has its designated time. As you synchronize your life to this rhythmic dance of order, you find a harmonious blend of productivity and peace. The satisfaction of completing tasks in an orderly fashion is an emotional reward that fuels your motivation.

Section 3: Crafting a Sanctuary of Serenity

Your living space is a canvas, and organization is the brush that paints a masterpiece of peace. When you curate a sanctuary “Nest” that reflects order and intentionality, you create a haven for your soul. The emotional impact is like stepping into a spa after a long, hectic day—pure bliss.

Section 4: The Empowering Rituals of Planning

Organizing your time is not just a practical act; it’s a powerful emotional investment. The ritual of planning brings a sense of control and purpose, turning the chaotic unknown into a roadmap of achievable goals. With each planned step, you become the architect of your destiny, and that empowerment is exhilarating. Even if something goes wrong along the way . . . which it will if you have a plan you can be flexible with your next step.

In Closing:

In the symphony of life, embracing organization is the key to unlocking a crescendo of positive emotions. The decluttered spaces, the rhythmic dance of productivity, the crafted sanctuaries “Nest”, and the empowering rituals—they all converge to create a beautiful melody of joy and serenity. So, let’s embark on this journey together, and let the harmony of organization resonate in our hearts and homes, bringing forth a cascade of positive emotions that will echo through every aspect of our lives.

Are You Ready For A New You This Year?

Let’s be truthful, clutter makes us feel crappy. That’s why, every year, after the big ball drops, oodles – oodles and oodles of us vow “this year we will get organized,” Fist pumps in the air, the family high-fiving each other. But, as days, weeks, and months go by and we resume our daily routines, the motivation to declutter tends to diminish. Perhaps your inner ‘neat freak’ merely needs the incentive to jump-start the organizing process.

Do you have too much clutter lying around? Do you have tripping hazards? such as tripping over toys in the middle of the night. Nevertheless, clutter causes many internal problems which – although less obvious than the Lego maze spread across your family room floor – are quite impactful on your life.

Putting in the effort of getting organized, especially if this organization extends to multiple areas of your life, can help reduce stress and anxiety levels long term by requiring less last-minute scrambling in a variety of directions in everyday situations. It can also feel empowering, so you can experience new situations as “exciting” rather than “stressful.”

HEALTH BENEFITS OF BEING ORGANIZED:

*Boost your energy and productivity

*Reduce stress & anxiety

*Sleep better

*Lose weight

*Improve your financial health

Clutter happens to all of us at one time or another and regaining control over the chaos can be challenging. Fortunately, science has shown getting organized has so many health benefits. Making small changes and successive improvements in one area can lead to positive effects in other areas. For example, less stress means a better night’s sleep. This just might be the motivation you need to kick your organizing goals into high gear.

Check out the three Organize & Coach Packages that are available now.

What Are You Doing This Weekend?

Placement over Purchase Redesign

Imagination is as valuable as a big budget when it comes to transforming your home.

Below is a list of how I can help you with your Redesign Project.

Room Redesign:

  1. We start off with a tour of the space/room to be redesigned
  2. We assess the accessories and decor within the space
  3. I prefer “placement over purchase” – it’s going shopping in your own home
  4. We put together a plan of action that can be started immediately
  5. If we need to purchase any items (paint, brushes, etc) we’ll do it before the project gets started
  6. We will start with removing all items from the space
  7. I do a deep clean of the space
  8. We start with our plan of putting items in their new homes
  9. We assess the space to see if it reflects the purpose and style we are achieving for the space
  10. Finalize with finishing touches to make the space your own

What room should you redesign next?

****************************************************************

Grace Notes:

  1. Use what you have decorating is easy and very economical and smart! The biggest thing holding us back is ourselves! We sometimes need to think out of the box a little and be willing to take a chance and learn something new.

     2. First of all it is most important to know which things in your home will look great used in new and fresh ways and which items won’t. This will be different for each of us.

     3. Here’s a rule of thumb from the Pros, the larger the item and the more of a focal point it is the harder it is to use if it is outdated or worn out. If it doesn’t fit into the style you’re after, get rid of it or move it to a new place where it can be centerstage.

     4. Paint is my “magic” of choice when it comes to updating and refreshing decor in my home I want to give a new life to! A chair, clocks, a table, a pillow (yup!), legs of soft furnishings, curtains, buffets, garden stools, mirrors, coat racks, and more!

   5. How about taking a piece of furniture or an accent from one room to another? I do this a lot! Especially with accent tables and chairs. I did this method with some lamps I have had for a while, my husband commented on the new lamps – I said “no, we have had them for over ten years, they’re just in a new HOME”.

 *******************************************************************

Spruce up your home for free with these easy redesign ideas.

1. TURN A STOOL INTO A SIDE TABLE. – Repurpose a seat into a handy stand, perfect for pulling up alongside a sofa or easy chair. Try one on its own, or cluster a few (even varied heights work). And remember less is more!

2. CHANGE YOUR CHAIRS. – Matching dining sets can feel humdrum over time. Trade a couple of seats from the kitchen with ones in the dining room.

3. TAKE ADVANTAGE OF OPEN SHELVES. – Pull out your pretty pitchers or patterned plates and arrange them to be admired.

4. REARRANGE LAMPS AND SHADES. – Swap a bedside lamp with one from your desk or the living room, or simply switch the shades for a different look.

5. REDO A WHOLE ROOM. – Play around with your furniture configuration—reposition a sofa, rotate a rug, or try dividing the room with an open-backed bookcase or storage unit.

6. THINK CREATIVELY. – Use a glass jar as a vase, group ottomans as a coffee table, or try a pretty basket to hold a plain planter.

7. RE-STYLE YOUR BOOKSHELF. – Since messy shelves can make an entire room look disorganized, pretty yours up.

9. BRING OUTDOOR FURNISHINGS INSIDE. – Wicker, wrought iron and decorative aluminum furniture can create a garden-, coastal-, beach- or cottage-themed space inside.

10. ARRANGE UNIQUE TABLESCAPES. – Design mini-vignettes on tables, mantels, or buffets with keepsakes, from china to figurines. “There’s no point in keeping interesting items if no one ever sees them.

Redesign is the art of using existing items in a space to give it a fresh, new, designer look generally without having to buy a thing.
