Motivational Monday!

This is an area I struggle with at times – I look around to admire and see the WORK of others, when I know that it’s inside of me too . . . I just need to put in THE WORK!

Sometimes you just need to let go of all the expectations you had for yourself up to this point, stop beating yourself up about where you are not – and celebrate where you are right now . . . this very moment.

Because if you’re reading this you’re seeing, you’re breathing, you’re moving, you’re thinking. Wow, that’s a great place to start – great place for us to start.

Right where we are  in this very moment.

I want to see everyone’s hard work out there today, I know I have some AWESOME people following me on this blog that are doing unique and authentic work . . . Let’s Show The World Our Work!

How To Prepare Your Home For The Spring Market

Staging a Home

Selling Your Home in the Spring Means Preparing Your Home in the Winter For sellers, it’s important to start getting your home ready long before the snow is gone and the first flower blooms.

Interview Real Estate Agents

One of the most important thing to do when selling your home is to find a great agent to represent you. If you don’t have one already, then get recommendations from friends and interview different agents to find one who will be the best fit for you. A good listing agent should have a great marketing plan, experience, and deep knowledge of the area and market.

Begin Packing and Organizing Your Belongings

There’s no way to know for sure how long it will take for your home to sell – it could take a month, or years – and while it may seem crazy to start packing up your stuff before a sale occurs, it’s best to be prepared for any outcome.

Clear the Clutter

Prospective buyers are going to want to step into your home and see a place they can visualize living in and making their own. The best way to do that is to create a blank slate. Keep it neat, keep it clean, reduce the amount of clutter you have on shelves and surfaces, and depersonalize as much as you can. The idea is to showcase your home without distracting from it, you want to showcase the focal points and function of each room of the home.

Make Repairs and Improvements

The last thing anyone wants to do before they sell their home is to dump a bunch of money into it for an extensive renovation; however, there are minor repairs and improvements that can be made to make a home look fresher for potential buyers.

  • Freshen Up Paint, Front Door and Hardware

Applying a coat of paint to walls and trim, or even touching up certain areas, can make a world of difference in the appearance of your home. It’s also a good idea to spruce up your front door, since that’s the first thing a buyer will see when they walk in.

  •  Let the Light in

Buyers want homes to be light and bright, so replace your light bulbs or even add a lamp or two to lighten it up. Also, when your home is being shown make sure all the lights are on and the blinds are open.

  • Focus on Bathrooms and Kitchen

The bathrooms and kitchen tend to be a focal point in the homes, and buyers pay attention to whether or not they’ve been updated. Doing little things like re-grouting the tile on the bathroom floor, or caulking the shower and bathtub, can give a used bathroom a fresher look – even new faucets can make a difference.

  •  Spruce up the Curb Appeal

You want to impress potential buyers as soon as they step onto the property or take a drive by, which means making the outside of your home look as appealing as possible.  Make the extra effort to rake leaves, weed the garden, and mow the lawn. Clean and put out your outdoor furniture, and even consider adding some colorful plants to the front of the house.

Motivational Monday

MCJW_Handbook_767px C.J. Walker – America’s First African American Millionaire

I love her Handbook – HAPPINESS and SUCCESS this was written by a black woman in the 1900s when there was not a lot to be happy and feel successful about. I loved that she used her face for marketing her hair products, not someone else’s face – she had a very strong message of who this product was for – no questioning.

The Take Away: Know Your Customer

“Tenacity and perseverance, faith in herself and in God, quality products and “honest business dealings” were the elements and strategies she prescribed for aspiring entrepreneurs who requested the secret to her rags-to-riches ascent. “There is no royal flower-strewn path to success,” she once commented. “And if there is, I have not found it for if I have accomplished anything in life it is because I have been willing to work hard.”

Sunday Morning Music

If you’re ready – come go with me

If you’re ready for some kindness – no judgement – pure honesty – much empathy – Peace and harmony all between the races – “No economical exploitation No political domination” . . . What brilliant lyrics.

Then, you will be ready!

Today, go out there in your world and do ONE kind thing for someone, do something for someone that cannot repay you  – but you can watch that ONE thing have a forward motion to a place you never could imagine for yourself. I know this works, I did it myself a few years ago. During this past summer I got to hear and see what my ONE thing of kindness did for someone . . . That was the biggest payday I had ever received in my life No Cash or Check involved!

  • Turn up your Speakers – Get some ‘church’ going on in your house

You’re Worth it Wednesday!

Take some time today to reflect on how awesome you are and all you do!

We forget to do this so often – we Pray for others and forget to Pray for ourselves and thank your God or Goddess for all you have. I reflected on this morning about having ENOUGH. I have enough – to live my life, to make me happy, to make others happy – I have enough . . . and I am ENOUGH.

Let me know in the comments if you get hooked on this music from White Sun like I have!

Motivational Monday

This is the year you are going change your fucking story!

Stop telling people the same damn story about yourself you have been telling for years.

Hello, that was me – I would tell people about my abusive-drunk stepfather and use him as a certain *footnote in my life. I would screw up somewhere along my path of life and tell people – Oh, I did that? You must have missed my little *footnote of how I grew up with a drunk abusive man in the house – you know that same old excuse you use as a crutch. What I didn’t realize, I was giving him the spotlight that he did not earn or deserved . . . instead of Me!

One day, I got sick and tired of listening to that same freakin story I told. It never made me feel good telling the story (never all of the story). One day listening to Madonna on the radio – I decided to change my story, I told myself “Cheryl, your headline from now on is going to be I MADE IT THROUGH THE WILDERNESS” I survived, that is much better story to tell.

Make this your year – Let’s make this our year!
