Here’s What You Need To Know Before Lighting Up!

burn sage 2 The year is half over. Are you keeping up with your awareness of the energy in your living and workspaces?

If you feel that it’s a good idea to be “out with the old” or even time to create space for something new, clear the invisible energies to allow the newness in.

One of my favorite space-clearing rituals is a sage burning. Give it a try!

Here’s what you need and how to do it:

  1. Sage is a potent plant, and burning it is a powerful ritual: Burning sage (aka, “smudging” or “sage-ing”) is a ritual used to cleanse space or the environment from negative energy, to generate wisdom and clarity, and promote healing. The intention is everything with this ritual, so before you light up, ask yourself what you’re trying to purify, and/or heal from or release—inside you or in your space.
  2. Burning sage has roots in Native American tradition: Many cultures follow burning practices; Catholics burn frankincense in their churches, Asian cultures burn incense, and native Amazonians burn Palo Santo. The word “sage” in Latin (salvia) translates “to heal” and it’s also a word we use in our American culture to describe a wise person. In Chinese medicine, we use the Salvia root (known as “Dan Shen” in pinyin) to cool people off, soothe irritability, and calm the spirit.
  3. Sage variety matters less: White sage is preferable but any sage wand (sage wrapped by twine in a bundle to make a stick) will do. It’s really about The intention. You can order them online, or a buy sage at Walmart – Even Whole Foods carries them now!
  4. The best time to smudge…is whenever you feel like your intuition is telling you to: Favorable times to smudge are when you first move into a new home or office. “At my home office, I do it between projects and also between chapters of my book”. Another good time to smudge is on a Full moon to cleanse and purify.
Stay tuned to Part 2 of this blog

Peace Harmony & Happy Sage-ing!

Never Get Up!

20190317_153845 Happy 81st Birthday Mom!

This is how you dress to attend a “Chicken Wedding” – I not kidding . . . you can’t make this shit up! The story will be in my book.  I know I’m not the only out here from a family that – Let me say – put the “D” is dysfunctional. With that said, Mom and I had a roller-coaster of a relationship during the time WE both were growing up.

The one thing that I am so Thankful and Blessed for: is we never gave up on each other. We got pissed off at each other, we yelled at each other, we walked out on each other, gave each other the silent treatment. But, through all those times we never gave up on each other.

And I am so damn happy we didn’t. Once I got into adulthood, I was growing up and Bev was growing up right along with me. I am now left with the best memories of the times we laughed so hard my sides would hurt the next day. I used to tell her when she would be mad at me, I would say “no one loves you like I do – nobody”. A couple of days before she died, she turned to me when we were napping together and said “you’re so fuckin right nobody loves me like you do”

Never give up on the ones you know are worth it!

Caregivers: Are You Taking Care Of You In order To Take Care Of Others?

elderly couple 1

15 Tips for reducing stress and promoting health for family and friends who providing the caregiving:

  1. Take a break from caregiving.
  2. Make a date to go to the movies, take a walk, meet a friend for lunch. Everyone needs to get out of the house once in a while.
  3. Do something not related to caregiving.
  4. Get support. Attend a support group, have a friend you can call just to let off steam and complain.
  5. Depression is treatable. Talk to your doctor about it. Or seek counseling.
  6. Practice communication and behavior management skills if you are caring for someone with dementia.
  7. Relax. Read a book, meditate, pray, garden, knit, get a massage, take a long bath.
  8. Take care of your health. Go to the doctor, get routine exams and flu shots, get enough sleep and eat your fruits and vegetables.
  9. Change “guilt” to “regret.” Guilt means you did something wrong, regret is that you are in a difficult situation and sometimes you have to make difficult decisions, but they are not wrong.
  10. Forgive yourself — often.
  11. You cannot be a perfect caregiver, all day, every day.
  12. Laugh. Find ways to keep your sense of humor by sharing a silly story with a friend, watching a funny show or movie, or join a group to try laughter yoga exercises.
  13. Exercise. Walk around the neighborhood. Or even better, recruit a friend to walk with you.
  14. Sign up for an online or in-person yoga class. Join a Zumba class or line dancing class.
  15. Ask for and accept help when offered.
  16. No one can do this alone.

Isn’t it time you finally enjoyed life and let someone else handle the rest?

Today’s lifestyles are far too hectic to get everything done yourself. The idea of being a superhero adult is simply a fantasy. The reality is you work hard for what you have, and your free time should be spent recharging your batteries and enjoying your life. That’s where CC Home Concierge Co. comes in.

A concierge is much more than simply an assistant person. It’s someone who is a home manager, home organizer and an organizer of time, a person who fully understands that you work hard and has very little time to take care of all the non-priority tasks that take over your To-Do lists.

CCHC services are personalized to your specific requirements, and ultimately end up saving you both time and money.

Peace & Harmony ~ Cheryl

Thank Doris For All Your Sunshine

When I grew up and fell in love
I asked my sweetheart, what lies ahead
Will we have rainbows
Day after day
Here’s what my sweetheart said

Que será, será
Whatever will be, will be
The future’s not ours to see
Que será, será
What will be, will be
